Results and Discussion

Project Setup

Today in lab, you will continue to work with your team and TA to tackle your final project based on your selected proposal from Lab 5, and introduction, materials from Lab 7. This work will continue in the Manuscript created in Lab 7.

Todays task

In lab today, you will work with your team to extend your methods an analysis and start drafting your results and discussion.

1. Methods
   • At this point, your methods and data should be fairly flushed out and you should begin transitioning them into a written representation of the process you used to analyze your data.
2. Drafting the results

• You should begin to draft the results of your analysis. This should include the results of your data exploration, the results of your analysis, and any visualizations you have created. Avoid going into the significace of the results at this point, just present the results, models, and or outcomes you achieved.

3. Drafting the discussion

• You should begin to draft the discussion of your analysis. This should include the significance of your results, the implications of your findings, and any limitations of your analysis. You should also discuss how your results relate to the broader field of data science and the implications of your findings. Including proposed next steps and open questions is appropriate here as well.

  • Have you clearly described them in a complete way in the from of a paper?
    
  • Could someone else replicate your analysis based on your method described?

  • Have you clearly presented the results of your analysis?
    
  • Have you included appropriate visualizations, tables, and statistics?
    
  • Have you avoided discussing the significance of the results at this point?
    
• Discussion (30 points)
  
  • Have you clearly discussed the significance of your results?
    
  • Have you discussed the implications of your findings?
    
  • Have you discussed the limitations of your analysis?
    
  • Have you discussed how your results relate to the broader field of data science?
    
  • Have you included proposed next steps and open questions?
    
• Overall Quality (10 points)
  
  • Is your lab well-organized and easy to follow?
    
  • Does it include all required elements (Introdcution, Materials, Methods, Results, Discussion)?
    
  • Does it contain proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling?

Submission

Please submit your lab as a team. Your corresponding author should submit the lab to the course website to the Canvas dropbox. Be sure the submitted link can reach a resolved HTML file at a URL!
